One of our favorite lighthouses on the great lakes is Whitefish Point lighthouse on Lake Superior. Whitefish Point Lighthouse is located on the southeastern end of Lake Superior, situated on the remote and beautiful Whitefish Bay. Every vessel entering or leaving Lake Superior must pass Whitefish Point…it is known to be one of the most dangerous shipping areas on the great lakes due to hazardous weather that comes up unexpected. The Edmund Fitzgerald sank 48 miles to the north. This lighthouse went into operation in 1849. These photos are from our recent visit there.
Wonderful photo of a fun day at the lighthouse. By the way, is the lighthouse open to the public? Last year I got to go to Mackinaw Island. It was fantastic. Thank you for sharing the photos.
